"... none were ever born with crowns on their heads, and sceptres in their hands, and (...) no man can be a king by himself, nor reign without people." : Delegitimization of the sacred hereditary monarchy in "Vindiciae contra Tyrannos"

El artículo analiza cómo aparece la cuestión de la legitimidad del poder real en la Vindiciae contra Tyrannos de 1576 a la luz de los acontecimientos de las guerras de religión en Francia. Específicamente muestra cómo la idea del ejercicio del poder del rey es central en el texto, así como su desacralización en varios sentidos, principalmente en relación a la sucesión hereditaria del poder del príncipe. En este sentido, se destaca como estos argumentos se desarrollan en los momentos previos al desarrollo de las teorías absolutistas de la monarquía.The present article analyzes the ways in which the issue of the legitimacy of royal power emerges in Vindiciae contra Tyrannos (1579) in the context of the French Wars of Religion. This study specifically shows how the concept of the exercise of king?s power together with its ample desecration becomes central to the text, particularly in connection with the hereditary succession of the prince?s power. In this regard, the analysis highlights the way in which these arguments develop prior to the appearance of the theories of Absolute Monarchy
